Government of Canada to remove COVID-19 border and travel measures effective October 1
The Government of Canada has announced that effective October 1, 2022, all travelers arriving in Canada (regardless of citizenship) will no longer have to:
- submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website
- provide proof of vaccination
- undergo pre- or on-arrival testing
- carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation
- monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving to Canada.
Mask mandate to reduce transmission, protect people in public spaces
The Province of BC has reinstated a mask mandate for public indoor spaces across the province on August 25th, 2021, that applies to people aged 12 and older. Indoor spaces include grocery stores, city halls, restaurants, pubs and bars, public transit, taxis or office buildings where public services are provided.
Proof of vaccination requirement
By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), proof of vaccination will be required to access some events, services and businesses. Starting September 13, you must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. By October 24, you must be fully vaccinated. You'll be able to show your proof of vaccination easily using the BC vaccine card website. You'll be able to save your vaccine card to your smartphone and show it when accessing events, services and businesses.

Vax for BC, the next step of the vaccine rollout
The Province of British Columbia is making it easier than ever for people to get vaccinated with the launch of Vax for BC, the next step in the Province’s campaign to help as many eligible people as possible get vaccinated. Beginning on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, and lasting throughout the month of August, community events, vax vans and mobile clinics will be up and running in dozens of communities in B.C. to get more people vaccinated with their first and second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“With more than 80% of eligible people in B.C. vaccinated with their first dose and more than 60% fully vaccinated, we have made tremendous progress in our vaccine rollout,” said Adrian Dix, Minister of Health. “The next few weeks is a great opportunity for everyone not yet fully vaccinated to take advantage of the number of Vax for BC opportunities throughout B.C.”
