Diversity Awards

The annual AMSSA Diversity Awards recognize member organizations, staff and volunteers for their innovative contributions to diversity and inclusion in BC.

Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award

AMSSA’s Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award recognizes an AMSSA member organization for one innovative program or project that supports diversity and promotes integration. An organization may submit only one program/project in one year. Candidates are rated in the following areas:

  • Collaboration: worked collaboratively with community partners
  • Leadership: demonstrated leadership and vision in the promotion of diversity; championed teamwork and collaboration and inspired others to effect positive change
  • Innovation: created, developed/supported and implemented an innovative program/project in the area of settlement, integration, multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion that demonstrated excellence
  • Impact: Made a significant contribution in the area of integration and diversity that demonstrated success and a positive outcome in the community

Any full organization or associate member of AMSSA may be nominated by an AMSSA member agency for the Riasat Ali Khan Diversity Award.

Service Recognition Awards

The Service Recognition Awards recognizes an individual staff member and a volunteer from member organizations for their significant contributions to further the vision and goals of the organization they work for and strengthen diversity in BC.

Service Recognition Staff Award

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Worked in the settlement, multiculturalism, and/or diversity and inclusion sector for a minimum of five (5) years
  • Currently works with an AMSSA member agency and has been for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Created, developed or implemented an innovative program(s) at the agency and/or sector level that demonstrates significant measurable results
  • Demonstrated leadership, championed teamwork and collaboration that effected positive change
  • Any full organization or associate member of AMSSA may nominate a candidate from their own or other member organization
Service Recognition Volunteer Award

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Volunteered in the settlement, multiculturalism, and/or diversity and inclusion sector for a minimum of five (5) years
  • Volunteered with an AMSSA member agency for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Created, developed, and/or supported innovative program(s) in the area of settlement and diversity
  • Demonstrated leadership and promotion of diversity
  • Any full organization or associate member of AMSSA may nominate a candidate from their own or other member organization
 

General Nomination Criteria:

  • Any full organization or associate member of AMSSA may nominate and/or be nominated for all 3 (three) awards
  • AMSSA Board of Directors or staff may not put forward a candidate for nomination
  • Members of the Award Selection Committee may not put forward a candidate for nomination
  • The nominator must secure permission from the nominee
