AMSSA is a member of or takes part in several networks that engage with the diversity and inclusion and newcomer serving professionals across Canada. The purpose is to share information, dialogue, and consult at both a national and regional level in order to inform policy.
Bridging Divides
AMSSA is a partner in a research program Migrant Integration in the Mid-21st Century: Bridging Divides led by Toronto Metropolitan University. The research program is dedicated to building a new understanding of the challenges and opportunities that migrant integration poses for Canada, and all countries, locally and across borders.
Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR)
The Canadian Council for Refugees is a national non-profit organization committed to:
- The rights and protection of refugees and other vulnerable migrants in Canada and around the world; and to the
- Settlement and Integration of refugees and immigrants in Canada.
Canadian Immigrant Settlement Sector Alliance – Alliance Canadienne du Secteur de lètablissement (CISSA-ACSEI)
CISSA-ACSEI is the immigrant settlement sector’s pan-Canadian voice with the purpose of building a Canadian society in which all immigrants and refugees are able to participate fully.
LGBTQ+ Newcomers Services Providers Network
The LGBTQ+ Newcomers Service Providers Network is a group of service providers, agencies, and individuals who share knowledge and resources through a community support network focused on LGBTQ+ Newcomers. The focus of this group is to help enhance supports and address service gaps that exist for LGBTQ+ newcomers in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
Metropolis Canada
Metropolis is an international network for comparative research and public policy development on migration, diversity, and immigrant integration in cities in Canada and around the world.
Multi-Agency Partnership (MAP)
The Multi-Agency Partnership (MAP) is made up of community agencies, government ministries, and housing providers which meet monthly to identify the needs of refugee claimants and how to better serve them by coordinating efforts, sharing knowledge and creating solutions.
National Settlement and Integration Council (NSIC)
The National Settlement and Integration Council (NSIC) which meets twice a year is a mechanism for collaboration, consultation and planning between the settlement and integration sector, Provincial/Territorial and Federal governments. AMSSA is also a member of the Newcomer Language Advisory Body (NLAB) and takes part in National engagement committees and other ad-hoc National Settlement and Integration Council working groups and committees.
Pathways to Prosperity Canada (P2P)
The Pathways to Prosperity Partnership (P2P) is an alliance of university, community, and government partners dedicated to fostering welcoming communities and promoting the integration of immigrants and minorities across Canada.
UBC Centre for Migration Studies
The UBC Centre for Migration Studies seeks to understand the causes, consequences, and experiences of human mobility through research, education, and outreach. As a community of faculty members, practitioners, students, research and support staff, the Centre for Migration Studies works together to advance the study and understanding of migration and belonging and to facilitate publicly engaged dialogue that fosters inclusive and just communities. AMSSA is a partner organization with a number of other institutions, community and university partners working with the UBC to better understand the impact of migration in society.
