As a settlement worker, you may need to provide assistance to Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) facing challenging circumstances. These situations can encompass a range of issues, including injuries, health, safety, bullying, harassment, abuse, and discrimination. We have developed this handbook to provide guidance to settlement workers on conducting a needs assessment for TFWs and offer information on the best ways to help TFWs navigate the WorkSafeBC claims process effectively.
The content for this handbook has been developed and written by members from AMSSA’s WorkSafeBC Project Advisory Committee, including:
- Ana Yansie Parada, Options Community Services
- Flordeliza Doria, Multicultural Helping House Society
- Juan Treviño, MOSAIC
We would like to thank WorkSafeBC for their support in the content development of this useful and timely handbook.
In this short video, we will cover:
- Who the handbook is for
- How to use it
- Why it’s important for working with TFWs
This resource has been prepared by AMSSA and is intended to provide readers with general information only. Should this information differ from the Workers Compensation Act (“The Act”) or WorkSafeBC policy, the Act and WorkSafeBC policy will prevail.
