On March 7, 2024, AMSSA facilitated the “Anti-Racism Foundations for Inclusive Communities” workshop for settlement service providers across BC. In this workshop, service providers explored and identified examples of racism in Canada, how they affect the settlement and integration process, and their role in building an anti-racist settlement sector.
Using the recordings from the workshop, this e-learning course explores diverse forms of racism, focusing on its prevalence within Canada, specifically British Columbia, and its ramifications within the settlement sector. Participants will gain insights into identifying the various manifestations of racism within their organizations and communities. Through an interactive approach, this engaging e-learning course offers comprehensive definitions, essential concepts, and valuable resources to support organizational, institutional, and program-level initiatives aimed at combating racism. The course facilitates moments of reflection and interactivity to enhance understanding of the content.
After completing the course, participants will:
- Gain an understanding of racism’s multifaceted nature
- Identify racism within their respective contexts
- Access a wealth of resources to support anti-racism efforts
