Impact of the Housing Crisis on the Resettlement of Afghan Refugees
Welcoming Afghan refugees in the Francophone and Acadian communities requires many resources and support. One of the keys to a successful transition from Afghanistan to Canada is lodging. First, a temporary accommodation upon arrival, and then access to a longer-term solution in the chosen community. The lack of available housing compared to the number of refugees has been an ongoing issue for many cities and communities. What is the scope of the housing crisis in Canada?
This webinar is targeted at direct and indirect service providers in order to feature some of the innovations addressing the housing crisis and will investigate how they could be scaled up. We will also discuss some statistics and data to present an up-to-date portrait of housing in general. We aim to also explore complementary solutions like different partnership models, private donation or possibilities within university and college residences as well as corporate philanthropy.
This webinar will be offered in both French and English and have accessibility options for the hearing impaired.
