The following resources presented in alphabetical order were developed by Canadian health and social service organizations to support newcomers in overcoming language and cultural barriers to access the information and services they need in order to maintain and / or improve their health and wellbeing.
Alberta Health Services – Road to Healthy Living a series of articles on a variety of health and health services topics available in plain English and in the following languages: Arabic, French, Chinese Simplified and Traditional, Farsi, Punajbi, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Alzheimer Society of BC – Information about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can be found in Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Persian and Punjabi.
Arthritis Society – BC and Yukon Division Information about arthritis is availalble in English, Chinese, Korean, Farsi, Punjabi, Tamil, Urdu and Vietnamese.
BC Centre for Disease Control – BC Drug and Poison Information Centre – Poison awareness multilingual pamphlets are available in Chinese, English, French, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese.
HealthLink BC – Translated resources give access to health information in the following languages: Chinese, French, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Screening Mammography Program of BC a brochure with information about the program is available in English, Chinese and Punjabi.
Sexuality Education Resource Centre- Manitoba the “Staying Healthy in Canada Basic HIV information for Newcomers in Canada” brohure is available in English, French, Amharic, Arabic, Spanish and Swahili.
