On February 14th, 2024, AMSSA facilitated a webinar on “The Significance of Anti-Racism in Smaller Centres: Fostering Equitable and Inclusive Environments.”
Anti-racism efforts in Smaller Centres are essential for fostering inclusivity and enhancing the experiences of newcomers. Smaller Centre communities across Canada are increasingly becoming home to newcomers from various cultural backgrounds. Smaller Centres play a crucial role in welcoming newcomers and supporting their successful transition into their new home. Anti-racism efforts are essential to ensure that these newcomers are welcomed and included, irrespective of their ethnic, racial, or cultural backgrounds. Recognizing and addressing incidents related to racism and discrimination has profound implications for the well-being of newcomers.
This webinar equipped participants with practical strategies and tools they can use to take actionable steps in enhancing anti-racism efforts within their organization and community through insights on inclusive policies and practices tailored to the needs of Smaller Centres.
