In this Virtual Information Session, frontline settlement workers will explore the unique challenges faced by naturalized Canadian citizen seniors aged 65 and over. Despite having resided in Canada for many years, these seniors often encounter ongoing settlement-related difficulties, including increased risks of loneliness, economic hardship, and limited access to essential resources. The session aims to equip service providers with effective strategies to support this population’s needs.
Designed for front-line settlement workers, this session will cover:
- Key settlement needs of naturalized Canadian citizen seniors and the underlying reasons for these ongoing challenges
- Practical strategies to address these needs and overcome service barriers
- Outreach approaches to better connect with senior immigrants and foster community engagement
Speakers:
- Daisy Au, Coordinator, Seniors Club Settlement & Family Services, MOSAIC
- Diane Wilmann, Director, Settlement and Seniors Programs, Little Mountain Neighbourhood House
- Patricia Steiner, Older Adult Team Lead, Little Mountain Neighbourhood House
