Planning for newcomers’ service needs and pivoting as those needs change relies on data, and these needs become even more apparent when mass migrations occur as experienced during the recent large-scale humanitarian responses occurring within a short period of time. This report examines different data sources, discusses their limitations and uses, the challenges of obtaining data, and lays out recommendations for the creation of a Provincial Data Framework that could inform the responses to future humanitarian efforts in BC and for the settlement sector as a whole.
