Migration Matters Info Sheet – Demographic Shifts in B.C.

Migration Matters Info Sheet – Demographic Shifts in B.C.

March 10, 2025

In the past ten years, the demographic landscape of British Columbia (B.C.) has grown more and more diverse due in large part to the steady growth of immigrants who have come to call the province home. Immigration has become the key avenue for both population and economic growth in B.C. This Migration Matters Info Sheet delves into the evolving patterns of immigration in B.C. by examining data on the countries of origin, age groups, religious affiliations, educational levels, and the population of non-permanent residents (NPRs), while highlighting their immense contributions to B.C. The insights provided here will help inform decisions that better support the settlement and overall well-being of newcomers while addressing the opportunities and challenges arising from these demographic changes.
