BC Settlement & Integration Services (BCSIS) service providers must ensure that program staff is trained to provide services and support in a culturally appropriate manner. BCSIS front-line workers support markedly diverse clients, given the range of immigration status groups including international students, temporary foreign workers, refugee claimants, naturalized citizens, and provincial nominees. The training considers the biases and cross-cultural communication issues newcomers encounter, particularly in the context of employment, and practical tips on how to assist them.
