Employment is a key factor in the settlement and integration journey of newcomers to BC. While there are many employment programs and services that support newcomers across the province, eligibility and access can differ for various newcomer groups: including refugee claimants, international students, and temporary foreign workers. To fill this gap, the Province of BC funds settlement services that enable settlement practitioners to provide employment supports.
The Foundations of Employment Supports for Newcomers e-Learning provides foundational knowledge and practical tools to strengthen understanding of the provision of employment support services for newcomers. This e-learning course is designed for BC settlement practitioners who have not received formalized training in the foundations of providing employment support services, are new to settlement work or are wanting a refresher on employment supports.
Included in this e-learning course is a downloadable resource tool that provides curated links and further reading to support deeper learning and practical application of the foundational knowledge provided in the e-learning.
