Workplace accidents can result in serious injury, long-term disability, or even death. In such cases, injured workers or their families may be eligible for specialized care services through WorkSafeBC. While largely under-reported, through the years, there have been cases of migrant workers being exposed to various hazards during their employment, after returning to their home country then developing serious illnesses or passing away and not knowing that they or their families may be eligible for certain benefits or services. In these cases, the migrant worker support sector is often faced with questions and knowing what rights workers have in these special circumstances will help the sector be better prepared should such circumstances occur.
