E-Learning Course: Supporting Occupational Health and Safety of Temporary Foreign Workers During Extreme Climate Events – Preparing for Wildfires and Heat Risk

Wildfires in BC have become increasingly frequent and intense in recent years due to rising temperatures and climate change, raising concerns in particular for migrant workers living and working in regions that are especially at risk during warmer seasons. Migrant workers may experience additional barriers to safety in relation to their employers, work conditions, and limited awareness of their rights.
 
This e-learning, based on the March 17 workshop, provides:
  • An overview of WorkSafeBC occupational health and safety regulations related to extreme climate events
  • Practical insights and best practices from two Interior-based service providers with first-hand experience supporting migrant workers during wildfires and extreme heat
  • Strategies to better equip settlement organizations to respond during climate emergencies
