In response to ongoing interest from service providers in building skills to know what to do or say when someone shares a traumatic experience, without causing harm or overstepping their role, AMSSA and BC Refugee Hub have partnered to create this e-learning module on safer spaces and responding to disclosures. By the end of this module, learners will know:
- What makes a space psychologically safe (and what gets in the way)
-
How to respond to disclosures of violence or trauma with empathy and containment
- Best practices in referrals, limits of confidentiality, and trauma-informed care
Access the Module 3 e-learning here.
This module is part of an e-learning series developed through the BC Safe Haven Resource Network. Each module is accompanied by a live virtual workshop with a mental health service professional to deepen understanding and build on the e-learning content.
