In this Virtual Information Session, frontline settlement staff will learn about supporting newcomers facing challenges with substance misuse and addiction. Presenters will provide an overview of substance use disorders, as well as information on how to identify signs and symptoms. Attendees will learn about culturally appropriate and trauma-informed strategies for supporting to clients. Additionally, presenters will highlight the wide range of supports that are available province-wide and provide practical guidance on how to connect individuals with the appropriate services.
This knowledge will empower settlement workers to better identify and address the substance use and addiction challenges faced by newcomer clients.
