BCSIS Virtual Information Session - Anti-Violence: Intimate Partner and Gender-Based Violence

BCSIS Virtual Information Session - Anti-Violence: Intimate Partner and Gender-Based Violence

March 31, 2022

March 22, 2022

In this Virtual Information Session, representatives from Family Services of Greater Vancouver, BC Society of Transition Houses, and Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre discuss Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The World Health Organization recognizes IPV and GBV as major global public health concerns that affect millions of people and can result in immediate and long-lasting health, social and economic consequences.  In this session, Settlement Workers learn how to identify abuse and effectively support impacted clients, especially those with language or cultural barriers. Presenters provide contextual information and discuss the impact of the pandemic, as well practical strategies that frontline workers can implement and supports that they can access.
