This online specialized resource page provides links to AMSSA reports including regional meetings, research advisory committee meetings, LIPs and SWIS meeting reports. Further general research reports from CISSA-ACSEI, IRW and P2P as well as BC Government and Government of Canada reports can be accessed from this page.

Background Information on the CFP

Settlement Program – Themes and Priorities – Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
CIC’s goal is to ensure the delivery of a core set of comparable settlement services for immigrants, including refugees across the country (outside Quebec), as described under each Settlement Program Theme. CIC will make Settlement funding a priority for these services as well as for projects that address one or more of the regional or national priorities, before giving consideration to other proposed activities. Finally, CIC will prioritize proposals that demonstrate the ability to deliver services in both official languages.

Immigration Data, Facts and Trends – Welcome BC
The Welcome BC website provides data relating to BC Immigration trends from 2006-2010 as well as factsheets on immigration and temporary residents. Further, data tables on immigrants to Canada in period from 2004 until 2013 are accessible.

Facts and Figures 2013 – Immigration overview: Permanent residents – Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
The CIC annual publication, Facts and Figures: Immigration Overview–Permanent Residents, provides a broad range of statistical information on admissions to Canada. An overview of the annual intake of permanent residents by category of immigration from 1989 to 2013 is presented. The main body of the publication consists of a series of statistical tables and charts covering the ten-year period from 2004 to 2013. The report depicts selected characteristics for permanent residents.

Information from BC Stats, including data tables, that summarizes the current demographic situation for BC and the rest of Canada is accessible via the linked website.

Provincial Mobility Data – BC Stats
Mobility refers to the movement of individuals on a geographic basis, whether it’s international migration between B.C. and the rest of the world or inter-provincial migration between B.C. and other Canadian jurisdictions. The term mobility encompasses those statistics that show the number of migrants, where they’re going to and where they’re coming from.

Demographic Profiles for Metro Vancouver / Fraser Valley – NewToBC
The Immigrant Demographic Profile for cities located in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley can be accessed on this website.

Vancouver Immigrant Profile – Vancouver Immigration Partnership
The Vancouver Immigrant Profile document which includes facts and figures in relation to Vancouver demographics can be accessed on this website. The key sources are the facts and figures gathered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the 2011 National Household Survey (NHS).

Surrey Demographic Information – Surrey Local Immigration Partnership

Metro Vancouver Census Information – Metro Vancouver
Using data from the Census of Canada, Metro Vancouver has produced a series of bulletins profiling the region’s population, age and gender, agriculture business, immigration, language, Aboriginal population, ethnic origins, families, educational levels, labour force, migration, income, and housing.

Diversity Profile of British Columbia – The Law Foundation of British Columbia
This research report from the Law Foundation aims to explore the diversity that exists in BC.

Health Community Profiles – MyHealthMyCommunity
Health and lifestyle data has been compiled into community profiles that are aimed to assist on planning decisions and policy development at a local level.

BC/Yukon Immigrant Integration Summit Resources and Reports – AMSSA
The BC/Yukon Immigrant Integration Summit was a two day event held in Richmond, BC on November 4 – 5, 2014 to bring together key stakeholders in immigrant and refugee settlement and integration with the goal of creating better social, economic and cultural outcomes for those arriving to British Columbia and the Yukon.

Saskatchewan Settlement and Immigration Summit Final Report – SAISIA
The Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and Integration Agencies (SAISIA) hosted the first in a series of provincial Settlement and Integration Summits by bringing together “community” representatives from all levels of government, the settlement sector, the non-government organizations sector, service providers, the not-for-profit sector, the private sector, the health and education sectors, representatives from more than 85 Saskatchewan communities, and “champions” of settlement and integration to Regina, Saskatchewan on September 24th and 25th, 2014.

Alberta Integration Summit Report – AAISA
The Alberta Integration Summit, which was organized by AAISA and supported by CIC, was a part of a series of provincial settlement and integration Summits held across the western region to understand the current priorities for settlement and integration in Alberta.

Manitoba Nunavut Settlement Integration Summit: Final Report – MIRSSA
At the request of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Manitoba Immigrant and Refugee Settlement Sector Association hosted the Manitoba Nunavut Settlement and Integration Summit on November 6 and 7 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Representatives from the settlement sector, all levels of government, not-for-profit organizations, private employers, and public services from both Manitoba and Nunavut were invited and encouraged to attend the summit.

OCASI Integration Summit – OCASI
Information and resources from the plenary and breakout sessions held during the OCASI Integration Summit are accessible on this website. The Summit provided opportunities for OCASI members, CIC and other agencies, organizations and public institutions to provide input and feedback on trends and issues related to settlement and integration.

Research Reports

Immigration Settlement Services and Gaps in CIC’s Western Region – Immigration Research West (IRW)
Immigration Research West (IRW) has released the Western Canada Communities Consultation Project which incorporates 34 community reports including 10 communities from British Columbia. The project is entitled “Immigration Settlement Services and Gaps in Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Western Region”.
This project is intended to inventory the extent to which settlement services exist in selected communities across Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and to identify gaps, barriers and needs.
