Settlement Program – Themes and Priorities – Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)
CIC’s goal is to ensure the delivery of a core set of comparable settlement services for immigrants, including refugees across the country (outside Quebec), as described under each Settlement Program Theme. CIC will make Settlement funding a priority for these services as well as for projects that address one or more of the regional or national priorities, before giving consideration to other proposed activities. Finally, CIC will prioritize proposals that demonstrate the ability to deliver services in both official languages.

Saskatchewan Settlement and Immigration Summit Final Report – SAISIA
The Saskatchewan Association of Immigrant Settlement and Integration Agencies (SAISIA) hosted the first in a series of provincial Settlement and Integration Summits by bringing together “community” representatives from all levels of government, the settlement sector, the non-government organizations sector, service providers, the not-for-profit sector, the private sector, the health and education sectors, representatives from more than 85 Saskatchewan communities, and “champions” of settlement and integration to Regina, Saskatchewan on September 24th and 25th, 2014.

At the request of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Manitoba Immigrant and Refugee Settlement Sector Association hosted the Manitoba Nunavut Settlement and Integration Summit on November 6 and 7 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Representatives from the settlement sector, all levels of government, not-for-profit organizations, private employers, and public services from both Manitoba and Nunavut were invited and encouraged to attend the summit.

Immigration Settlement Services and Gaps in CIC’s Western Region – Immigration Research West (IRW)
Immigration Research West (IRW) has released the Western Canada Communities Consultation Project which incorporates 34 community reports including 10 communities from British Columbia. The project is entitled “Immigration Settlement Services and Gaps in Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Western Region”.
This project is intended to inventory the extent to which settlement services exist in selected communities across Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and to identify gaps, barriers and needs.
