Diversity and Inclusion: Strengthening the Settlement and Integration of Francophone Racialized Communities
As several service providers across British Columbia will celebrate and commemorate Black History Month, AMSSA and the Francophone Immigration Network (RIFCB) would like to provide a platform for service providers, directors, management and front-line workers to learn more about the diversity of the Francophone community, the dynamism of black communities as well as the role of ethnocultural associations in the reception, integration and well-being of Francophone immigrants.
The panel discussion seeks to provide francophone and non-francophone service providers the opportunity to understand better the challenges that may hinder the successful integration of racialized Francophone communities and would also provide front-line workers the opportunity to share their experiences in welcoming Francophone immigrants; their collaborative practices with ethnocultural associations; and reflect on tools to strengthen the integration and settlement of their racialized communities.
The panel will be moderated by Dr. Moussa Magassa, PhD, UVic Human Rights Educator, Specialist in Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and will feature:
Dr. Eni, a retired Academic and International Health Consultant, former Board Member and former Vice President of AMSSA and an active member of the civil society in British Columbia for thirty years, whose recent book “Inside Intercultural Canada” has been reviewed by the former BC Premier and Federal Minister of Health, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh
Paul Mulangu, Director of the Centre of Integration for African Immigrants (CIAI)
Zaskya Mousseau, BC Francophone Immigration Network Coordinator, will provide an overview of ethnocultural associations of BC
To conclude the floor will be opened for a general “Q and A” session where participants will be invited to pose questions to panelists.
