AMSSA and its member agencies and stakeholders organize public community events, workshops for newcomers to Canada as well as professional development training, workshops, seminars and conferences for (re)settlement, language training diversity and inclusion sector employees. YWCA FOCUS@Work – Free Employment Program | Accepting Referrals

YWCA FOCUS@Work is a free employment program that helps women assess their skills and strengths, set career goals, build connections and develop job search skills to find meaningful, sustainable employment.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Online Workshops and Assignments (weeks 1 – 3)

Workshop Topics:

  • Assessments (career, personality, skills, interests and values)
  • Personal development (self-esteem and self-assertion, effective communication, conflict resolution and coping with change and stress)
  • Job search skills (resumé, cover letter, portfolio, personal branding, interviews, networking, hidden job market access and current labour market information)

Coaching and Job Search Support:

Up to five one-to-one coaching sessions (weeks 4 – 12); job search support in a

group setting and online for up to one year.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Self-identifying women who are actively looking for employment and who are able to commit to three weeks of full-time online workshops.
