Virtual Information Session: Fraud Awareness and Prevention for Settlement Service Provider Organizations
According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the world’s largest anti-fraud organization, one in ten reported fraud cases between 2016 and 2024 occurred at non-profit organizations (NPOs), resulting in median losses of $86,000 to $143,000 CAD per incident. Over 80% of NPOs that experienced fraud between 2021 and 2024 took steps to modify their anti-fraud controls afterward, understanding the importance of awareness and prevention measures.
Settlement Service Provider Organizations (SPOs), like other NPOs, are focused on fulfilling their missions. Operating on tight budgets and often facing frequent staff turnover, SPOs may struggle to establish clear roles and robust internal controls. These characteristics can leave them particularly vulnerable to both internal and external fraud.
This session is targeted to senior organizational leaders, managers and finance professionals at SPOs and will provide practical insights into controls, assessments, systems, and strategies that organizations and staff can implement to mitigate fraud risks and will provide actionable tools to enhance fraud prevention and detection within their organizations.
Following the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the presenter.
