AMSSA and its member agencies and stakeholders organize public community events, workshops for newcomers to Canada as well as professional development training, workshops, seminars and conferences for (re)settlement, language training diversity and inclusion sector employees. Retail Connections – Youth Employment and Skills Program
RETAIL CONNECTIONS
Immigrant Youth Retail Employment Training Program
Start date: Monday, May 8th, 2017
The Retail Connections Program is an employment and skills training program that helps unemployed and underemployed immigrant youth and young adults to gain the skills and experience needed to find employment in the retail and customer service industry. We also have a limited number of seats available for non-immigrant clients.
What does it include?
Job Readiness Training:
- 4-week daily full-time classroom-based training including:
- Job search and Retail specific workshops
- Personality and Career Assessment
- 8-week one-on-one coaching and follow up support
Skills Development:
- Essential Skills Assessment and Training
- Retail specific training in Customer Service and Sales, Inventory Management,
Merchandising and Displaying and Occupational Health and Safety.
- WorldHost Customer Service Training and Certificate
- Emergency First Aid Training and Certificate
- Food Safe Training Certificate
- Career Coaching
Job Retention Support:
- Post-employment follow-up support
- Personal management skills training
- Connections to community services
- Workplace orientation
We welcome jobseekers who are:
- Unemployed or underemployed working less than 20 hours/week
- Non-EI eligible
- 18-30 years old
- Permanent Residence, Canadian Citizen or Protected Person
- Intermediate conversational English skills
- Able to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks of full-time training (Mon-Fri, 10am-3pm)
- Not participating in another Canada Job Fund Employment Services & Support program
- Residents of the Lower Mainland
