Refugee Rights Day Public Forum

April 4, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

MOSAIC presents the Refugee Rights Day Public Forum “The Big Picture: What does the Economic Integration of Refugees Look like in the long run?”

Presented by Dr. Dan Hiebert, this forum summarizes a newly available data source showing economic outcomes for refugees and immigrants over a 31-year period, from 1980 to 2011, in Canada’s six largest cities.

Although it is a common understanding that refugees in Canada face economic and other barriers throughout their lives, the new data indicate that despite prolonged economic marginalization, most are able to achieve financial independence and even upward economic mobility. The results of the presented analysis will be relevant for the way Canadians view our refugee programs.
