Longitudinal Immigration Database (IMDB) Workshop Series for Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) in Western Canada

June 24 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

The Child and Youth Refugee Research Coalition (CYRRC) is partnering with SPO umbrellas – AAISA, AMSSA, MANSO, and SAISIA – to offer an interactive workshop to build the capacity of SPOs to access data in the Longitudinal Immigration Databse (IMDB). The workshop will be facilitated by CYRRC researchers Yoko Yoshida and Jonathan Amoyaw who have extensive experience working with the IMDB and other complex datasets.

Participants will learn to:

Produce tables and charts based on publicly available IMDB data
Analyze data in the context of program planning and evaluation
Understand limitations of the database and know who to contact for additional support.
The workshop will take place in two sessions; participants may register for both or only one:

June 22, 2021 – Retention measures for refugees
June 24, 2021 – Economic outcomes of refugees

Local times:

B.C.: 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Alberta: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm Alberta
Manitoba & Saskatchewan: 12:30 – 2:00 pm
Each workshop will draw examples from issues faced by SPOs in Western Provinces (BC, AB, SK, and MB), and will include interactive, hands-on learning opportunities.

Examples and case studies in the workshops will focus specifically on refugee resettlement; however, following the workshops, participants will be able to apply the same methods and skills to explore broader immigration issues.

Space is limited, so register now!
