AMSSA Webinar: Innovative Outreach Strategies to Reach Newcomers to BC

Not all newcomers arriving to BC access the services available to them. Helping newcomers and those around them become more aware of these services exist and their value is important. This webinar will outline and provide suggestions on how service providers can better work to promote their services to newcomers arriving in their community.

This webinar will provide settlement staff and LINC instructors with greater knowledge of:

  • The information practices of newcomers, including their use of technology in migration and settlement
  • The role of community engagement in outreach
  • Explore ways of finding and effectively outreaching to newcomers
  • Creative outreach strategies that work, including emerging digital trends
  • How to develop an outreach toolkit that includes technology such as social media & more
  • How to create a digital outreach plan

Presenter Biography:

Marco Campana

Marco does freelance communications work with organizations that serve immigrants, refugees and promote diversity. He’s worked in a variety of non-profit sectors, including newcomer settlement, employment services, information and referral and on various community-based technology projects. As past Content Coordinator of Settlement.Org for 5 years and Online Capacity Development Coordinator for Settlement AtWork, he’s keenly aware of the sector and its technology needs. 

He provides strategic communications support to help social service organizations think about how they can move their services online. He’s very interested in broad nonprofit communications, especially how social media, messaging apps, technology use in client service and digital strategy can be used to enhance human service work, impact and influence.
