AMSSA Lecture: Digital Access & Digital Literacy
- What improvisations and innovations did settlement and outreach workers adopt to reach out to newcomer communities?
- What have been the successes and surprises bringing learning and services online?
- What new pedagogical and social inclusion challenges persist?
- Who continues to be excluded from these learning opportunities and what are the implications of this for equity and justice among low income and racialized communities?

Speakers
Dr. Suzanne Smythe (she, her) is Associate Professor in Adult Literacies and Adult Education at Simon Fraser University. Her current research program examines how digital access and new technologies are changing pedagogies and theories-as-usual in community language and literacy settings.
Dr. Amea Wilbur (she, her) Assistant Professor in the Department of Adult Education, University of the Fraser Valley, Co-researcher, COVID and Adult Education project.
Dr. Wilbur has worked in the settlement sector for many years in Vancouver and has facilitated numerous workshops on trauma-informed practices for settlement and language providers both provincially and nationally.
