As more individuals awaken to the reality of racism, public education becomes a crucial venue for dispensing evidence-based knowledge and for the public to develop racial literacy. Part two of the lecture series on Racial Literacy with Dr. Ismaël Traoré focuses on racism and anti-racism and offers the following for the learners:
- Through lecture recordings, and reading assignments, this series will provide participants with foundational knowledge on the topic.
- The lectures focus on a developmental approach to building an anti-racist multicultural organization, different organizational anti-racism strategies, and working on the self.
- This series is best suited for people who are:
a) aware that racism exists and seek more information about its various manifestations, and
b) interested in learning more about anti-racism work.
- This series is not a “how-to” series, which is the domain of consultants. Instead, the focus is on “what”; that is, on explaining core concepts and domains of knowledge in the field of racism and anti-racism. Participants are expected to commit to attending all lectures, and doing all readings, because they build upon one another.
