However\, to ensure that client referrals are successful\, it is essential that frontline settlement workers understand the services\, supports available to newcomer clients\, eligibility criteria based on immigration status\, and effective referral methods.  \nIn this session\, speakers will explore the current WorkBC pathway to employment\, temporary policies for displaced Ukrainians\, and various policy updates. DESCRIPTION:Migrant workers can be vulnerable to unsafe work and workplace hazards\, including their health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. They often lack the knowledge\, language skills and ability to exercise their right to a safe and healthy workplace. WorkSafeBC is partnering with AMSSA to develop workshops and information for settlement agencies and their support workers to help migrant workers understand and exercise their rights and receive benefits they are entitled to as workers in BC as they relate to workplace health and safety. \nWORKSHOP DESCRIPTION \nThis workshop will provide migrant worker support staff with a foundational understanding of WorkSafeBC policies relating to migrant workers. This will include core information about the Workers Compensation Act\, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations and claims. With this foundational knowledge\, participants will begin developing a deeper understanding of how best to help migrant workers access the workplace health and safety rights to which they are entitled. \nASSOCIATED LEARNING MODULES \nParticipants who complete the first workshop will be offered access to subsequent workshops and online learning modules.
