SUMMARY:HIPPY Open House (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters)
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Mothers Matter Centre (MMC)\, Canada’s proud home of the HIPPY program. MMC\, a national organization housed in Vancouver\, BC\, is a virtual\, national consortium of organizations dedicated to serving socially isolated and low-economic-status mothers and their families. \nMothers Matter Centre (MMC) invites newcomer settlement service organizations for a virtual open house on November 22nd and November 29th to learn more about the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program. \nWith the upcoming Call for Proposals from IRCC\, direct delivery settlement organizations may be interested in adding HIPPY as part of their service delivery proposals\, mainly if they deliver services to newcomer refugees and immigrant mothers in their communities. \nHIPPY is a practical and structured settlement support for newcomer refugee and immigrant mothers who are: \n– Isolated and vulnerable; \n– have children between the ages of 2 and 5;\n– need support to access essential services;\n– need support to build confidence\, capacity and communal connections; \n– and want to prepare their children for school and life success. \nHIPPY is an evidence-based program that works in the home to support vulnerable and isolated mothers in their critical role as their child’s first and most important teacher. A peer-based program can take them from ” I can’t” to “I can.” \nPlease join Mothers Matter Centre (virtually) on \nNovember 22\, 2023 (9:00-10:00 AM PST) and/or November 29\, 2023 (11:00 AM-12:00 PM PST) for the HIPPY Open House event. \nA session in French will be delivered on November 30th (Please see attached poster in English and French)  \n* Please note that the main presentation will be in English. If you prefer to communicate in French\, the Q and A session following the main presentation will be available in English and French (separate break-out rooms). \n
