SUMMARY:Webinar - Increasing Connections with the Francophone Sector in B.C.: A Path Towards Strengthening Francophone Referrals
DESCRIPTION:Le français suit… \nFrancophone referrals are essential to both Anglophone and Francophone organizations as this process supports Francophones in British Columbia with access to essential services\, strengthening their settlement and integration\, at the same time as supporting their bilingual status in B.C. and the right to access services in either of the official languages. Many Francophone organizations across B.C.\, support Francophone newcomers living in the province\, including immigrants and refugees to access settlement services in French. This support as well as referrals made by Anglophone organizations are essential to helping create a dynamic\, unique\, multicultural\, and vibrant Francophone community fostering lasting ties between newcomers and the Francophone communities.   \nIn this webinar\, you will learn about: \n\nThe updated process of making a referral to a Francophone organization\nWhy Francophone referrals are essential to both the Anglophone and Francophone organizations and Canada’s overall commitment to settlement and re-settlement\nHow to ensure that you are fulfilling responsibilities under the IRCC Contribution Agreement\n\nMESSAGE FROM IRCC BCY \nThe Francophone referral pathway is essential to both Anglophone and Francophone organizations. Recipient Contribution Agreements include clauses in Schedule 4 which confirm the requirement to inquire about the language of service requested. When clients indicate French as their first language\, they should be informed of the availability for French settlement services. Organizations should develop and maintain connections with Francophone service providers to facilitate these referrals. SUMMARY:HIPPY Open House (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters)
DESCRIPTION:This event is hosted by Mothers Matter Centre (MMC)\, Canada’s proud home of the HIPPY program. MMC\, a national organization housed in Vancouver\, BC\, is a virtual\, national consortium of organizations dedicated to serving socially isolated and low-economic-status mothers and their families. \nMothers Matter Centre (MMC) invites newcomer settlement service organizations for a virtual open house on November 22nd and November 29th to learn more about the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program. \nWith the upcoming Call for Proposals from IRCC\, direct delivery settlement organizations may be interested in adding HIPPY as part of their service delivery proposals\, mainly if they deliver services to newcomer refugees and immigrant mothers in their communities. \nHIPPY is a practical and structured settlement support for newcomer refugee and immigrant mothers who are: \n– Isolated and vulnerable; \n– have children between the ages of 2 and 5;\n– need support to access essential services;\n– need support to build confidence\, capacity and communal connections; \n– and want to prepare their children for school and life success. \nHIPPY is an evidence-based program that works in the home to support vulnerable and isolated mothers in their critical role as their child’s first and most important teacher. A peer-based program can take them from ” I can’t” to “I can.” \nPlease join Mothers Matter Centre (virtually) on \nNovember 22\, 2023 (9:00-10:00 AM PST) and/or November 29\, 2023 (11:00 AM-12:00 PM PST) for the HIPPY Open House event. \nA session in French will be delivered on November 30th (Please see attached poster in English and French)  \n* Please note that the main presentation will be in English. If you prefer to communicate in French\, the Q and A session following the main presentation will be available in English and French (separate break-out rooms). \n
