DESCRIPTION:WELCOME 2016 is a Welcoming Communities Summit to be held at Okanagan College\, with opening ceremonies and reception Friday evening\, June 17th and a full day of breakout sessions and keynotes on Saturday\, June 18th. \nThis event has been organized by the South Okanagan | Similkameen Local Immigration Partnership.  We are working to increase the pace of social and economic integration for new immigrants\, a goal I believe we all play a part in attaining. \nHere are some of the session highlights: \n\nEmployer Tools – How to find\, hire and retain newcomer talent\nMigration Matters – Local History\, Who moved here when\nBuilding Healthy Communities Through Sport\nCanadian Immigration Law – New rules\, new opportunities\nContinuing the Dream – What to know about starting a business in Canada\nCharacteristics of a Welcoming Community – Panel Presentation\nEnrolling Foreign Students – A Community Solution\nEntrepreneurship in BC  – Are you ready to take the plunge?\nLocalizing the Great Canadian National Project – Welcoming Refugees to the South Okanagan\n\nNick Noorani will be providing the Keynote Address.  Nick is a social entrepreneur and immigrant advocate.  He is an author and publisher who takes his work to a higher level through extensive community involvement. \nThe Summit includes great food and entertainment\, a bargain for the Early Bird registration of only $49.  Seating is limited for some of the sessions.  You have the opportunity to customize your day when you register.  Register early for the best selections.  Presenter details and registration is on-line at www.soslip.ca or in person at the SOICS office (508 Main Street).
