The registration deadline is October 29th. \nProfessor Dan Hiebert (UBC) will present on:\n– Why many people have fled Syria;\n– The pathways of escape;\n– How they have become interwoven with other migrants;\n– The impacts on surrounding countries;\n– The challenges arising in the EU; and\n– The Canadian responses. \nPresenter Biography: \nProfessor Dan Hiebert\nDan Hiebert is Professor at the UBC Department of Geography. His research interests focus on international migration\, and the relationship between national security\, cultural diversity\, and human rights. \nSince 2010 he has served as the Co-Chair of the City of Vancouver Mayor’s Working Group on Immigration\, and he is the founding Co-Director of a new initiative\, the Canadian Network for Research on Terrorism\, Security\, and Society (TSAS.) \nHave questions?
