Safe Harbour Champions Breakfast 2011
November 1, 2011
Community organizers, elected officials, businesses and non-profit organizations attended the Holiday Inn, Vancouver Centre bright and early on November 1st for a delicious breakfast and to celebrate this year's Safe Harbour Champion, Comox Valley Airport. The award was accepted by Alex Robertson, Deputy Manager, Operations from Comox Valley Airport. City of Vancouver Councillor Ellen Woodsworth provided the keynote speech. Congratulations to finalists: Canada Safeway, Cook Street Village, The Alano Club in Courtenay, Mission Community Services, The Service BC centre in Duncan, MLA Raj Chouhan's Community Office and MLA Spencer Chandra-Herbert's Community Office.

AMSSA's 34th Annual General Meeting
September 23, 2011
AMSSA held its 34th Annual General Meeting on September 23, 2011 at the Museum of Vancouver, Joyce Walley Learning Centre. The highlights of the AGM included the Diversity Awards and marvelous entertainment. AMSSA would like to congratulate the nominees and recipients of the Diversity Awards. Also, a warm welcome to AMSSA's new Board of Directors. Thank you to those who attended!

Revealing AMSSA's New Brand

After 34 years of growth in the sector and borrowing a logo from South Okanagan Immigrant Community Services (formerly Penticton Multicultural Society), AMSSA underwent a rebranding process. AMSSA's new brand describes AMSSA as both a strengthener and a collaborator. For more information about the brand please click here. International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination March 21st Commemoration Event & Workshop
March 21st, 2011
AMSSA, in partnership with the Racism-Free Workplace Strategy, hosted an interactive event at the Vancouver Public Library to commemorate March 21st. Safe Harbour: Respect for All workshop-style discussions raised awareness of the importance of creating welcoming communities and addressing racism in the workplace.

AMSSA hosted the first annual Safe Harbour Champion’s Breakfast in Burnaby to acknowledge the active participation of Safe Harbour-certified locations across the province. The City of Burnaby won the champion’s award. Blenz President George Moen provided the keynote.
